I have been using Microsoft word since I was in 3rd grade. It is definitely the app I am most familiar with using, as opposed to google docs. I have used google docs a few times but only for group work. Google docs is a better option when there are multiple people working on the same paper.
The ISTE standards for educators basically summarize the best ways to improve teaching for yourself and others. The learner is the most meaningful standard to me because it means that you are dedicated to changing and improving yourself for the benefit of the children you teach. I think that it means that no matter what, you should always be looking for ways to learn new skills that can help your students. This is extremely important since change is always happening, and everyone needs to stay ready to adapt.
I think that, for the most part, being a digital native is a very accurate way to describe our generation and younger. We have been using this technology since elementary school, whereas other generations were adults when it was introduced. I took a typing class in 3rd grade and have had to use all the technology that was introduced throughout all my years of schooling. I don't know how things will change in the future since it's hard to imagine what type of technology we will have accomplished by then.
